Oil Filters: what to check before you buy

  • Match the filter to the engine, not the badge: on Mercedes-Benz, petrol and diesel versions of the same car rarely share a cartridge.
  • Check the OE number on your old filter against the OE cross-references on the product page.
  • Fit every sealing ring in the box, cap O-ring included. Old rings harden with heat and are the usual cause of a weep down the housing.
  • Change the oil filter with every oil change.
  • On MANN-Filter cartridges, a trailing x or z in the part number means the seals are in the box.
